Who am I?
My primary vocation for many years has been as a yoga and meditation practitioner and teacher. During this time, I have been based at Mandala Yoga Ashram near Llandovery, where I am known under the spiritual name of Krishnaprem. The Ashram runs many residential retreats annually, receiving people from all over the U.K. and also Europe, seeking to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga in its widest sense.
I am a trained counsellor, graduating in 2015, and a keen beginner student of Cymraeg/ Welsh.
In addition, for several years, I have felt a calling to enter into the field of death, dying, grief and loss. The Ashram hosts a 10-day Facing Death Embracing Life retreat most years, which has informed my understanding. Furthermore I have been trained as a Death Doula by Alexandra Derwen in North Wales, and as an Independant Funeral Celebrant by Dinah Liverside in South Wales. Both of these have greatly enriched my experience. I am currently deepening my training as a Grief Circle facilitator.
My years of spiritual living, and the depth of the above trainings, have helped to infuse my practice and understanding with a clarity and compassion, arising from a inner felt sense of the deeper mystery which underlies both life and death. Held within this mystery, death is the other side of life; joy the other side of grief; love the other side of loss. Hence life, death, joy, grief, love, loss are all expressions of the Sacred, and hence to be honoured.
